Humans are messy.

They have different communication and listening behaviors, various ways of being motivated or deterred, and inconsistent responses to conflict or feedback.

They have a multitude of strengths and weaknesses, all being triggered at different times with different projects.

And yet, they are all supposed to work together like little angles and ultimately be successful.

So, how do we grow an individual, while growing the team, while growing the organization at large?

Thanks for presenting such useful tools to help me be my best.”

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?

We are all this brilliant mash-up of our purpose, our values, our skills, strengths, and weaknesses. We use these tools to communicate, solve problems, and interact with the world around us. We approach every situation and every collaboration using these tools, and yet, we rarely spend time or energy identifying or strengthening them.

We tend to behave on autopilot, not in tune with our habits, triggers, or tendencies. We may communicate in a way that is helpful to some people, and not helpful to others, but rarely do we do anything about it.  We know we “get along” with some people better than others, but we don’t know why.  We are unsure how to answer the questions,

“What are you good at?”
“What can we rely on you for?”
”What skills do you bring to a team dynamic?”

When it’s hard for an individual to explain what makes them unique and special, the team suffers because of it.

This is where self-awareness comes in.

Successful teams consist of individuals who understand their own talents, so they can use them intentionally to better their team and organization.

Self-awareness is the ability to see ourselves clearly—to understand who we are (internal), how others see us (external), and how we fit into the world (meta).

Self-aware people:

Are more successful, confident, and happy.

Build better relationships.

Can assess themselves and their talents realistically.

Are better able to manage and regulate their own emotions.

Make better decisions.

Are open to seeing others’ perspectives.

Make better teammates because they can see themselves and others for who they are rather than what they do.

“Monique said everything that was on our hearts and minds. She was engaging, honest, and relatable, and left us speechless by how spot on she was. Her talk inspired us to take action, to have tough conversations, and to be the change for ourselves.
Monique didn’t just inspire us. Monique empowered us.”
